26 Jan '10 09:27Billericay Town secure an important 3 points in this their first league game since 13th December 09.
Billericay had the better start of the 2 teams and were soon in their attacking stride, with Lisa Silverton and Kerry Oldham creating a number of chances in front of the visitors goal, Billericay’s first was scored on approx the 10th minute, Hayley Spallin played a perfect ball from midfield into the visitors 18 yard area Paris Smith was first to react and beat the advancing keeper to side volley the ball home, this spurred Billericay forward but the numerous chances created were squandered. Good play from Billericay continued, Kiran Hare was getting space down the left wing, she attacked the space cleverly getting in behind the full back her set back hit a covering defender which took the ball past the keeper. Hannakins soaked up the pressure well and were quick on the counter but Billericay’s back 4 of Ginnie James, Rebecca Allen, Vanessa Wilson and Leanne Wood broke down any attacks. Billericay’s 3rd was created from defence debutant Allen playing the ball wide to Smith who attacked the wing her cross to the far post was won by Silverton her shot was too fierce for the goal keeper to hold.
Next 2 goals were scored in the last 4 minutes of the 1st half, Lisa Blundell won the ball in midfield her pass splitting the 2 central defenders, Silverton’s pace ensured she was first to the ball and struck with venom smashing the back of the net. Billericay won the ball straight from kick off, Spallin spread the ball wide, Smith drove down the line her cross cleared the keeper and Oldham was perfectly placed to knock the ball home.
Second half saw Hannakins play some good football stretching the Billericay midfield, play was more balanced with both teams looking to counter attack. A weak free kick was awarded to Hannakins, the kick was well taken and through a bundle of players the ball found the back of the net, this boosted Hannikans confidence and in spells had Billericay on the back foot. Billericay’s best goal was saved till last, Strauss in goal threw the ball wide to Wood, her infield pass to Blundell was quickly passed to Spallin who drove forward, she played wide to Oldham who skipped past the wide player, her infield pass to Jo Peacock was played first time to Silverton who made no mistake in placing to the side of the keeper.
Kim Coster stated this was a good result against a young well organised team, their manager and coach Tim Cook reads the game well and this has reflected in the teams previous results this season. I am looking for Billericay to take the confidence of the win into next weeks game against Sawbridgeworth Town LFC at New lodge 2pm KO.
